2026 National Health Center Week Brings Community Together

Bay Area Community Health proudly celebrated National Health Center Week, an annual nationwide observance recognizing the vital role community health centers play in providing affordable, accessible healthcare and improving the health of underserved communities.

The week also provided an opportunity to recognize the patients, employees, volunteers, and community partners who help advance our mission of delivering high-quality healthcare throughout Alameda and Santa Clara counties.

The week began with the Ohana Health Fair at Liberty Health Center and concluded with a second Ohana Health Fair at McKee Health Center. Together, the events welcomed more than 600 community members and connected families to health information, community resources, enrollment assistance, and wellness services.

Across both health fairs, Bay Area Community Health provided 64 health screenings, including blood pressure and glucose checks, helping participants identify potential health concerns and access preventive care. Outreach and Enrollment staff completed 9 health coverage applications, including 7 Medi-Cal and 2 Primary Care Access Program (PCAP) enrollments, and scheduled follow-up healthcare appointments.

During Health Conditions Day, staff provided 45 additional health screenings and shared education focused on chronic disease prevention and management, empowering community members to take an active role in their health.

As part of Special Populations Day, the Outreach team engaged 80 agricultural workers at Christopher Ranch in Gilroy, providing health education, community resources, and information about available healthcare services.

Overall, National Health Center Week resulted in more than 100 health screenings, expanded access to healthcare coverage, connected patients to follow-up care, and increased awareness of available health services throughout the community.

The 2026 Ohana Health Fairs were proudly presented by Natera, with generous support from AARP, Kaiser Permanente, Leavitt Group, Santa Clara Family Health Plan, and Washington Health.
